My name is Ciarra and I completed SACE Stage 2 at Findon High School in 2020. I was fortunate enough to be offered the opportunity to engage in an accelerated learning program, enabling early completion of my senior studies. This opportunity allowed me to exercise my full potential and participate in areas of study that kept me interested and challenged me. The great thing about Findon small class sizes, ensuring teachers are able to get to know you personally and understand where your strengths and weaknesses are to support you through your education. Without the endless support from a great variety of teachers and SSO’s, I would not have developed into the person I am now with a strong mindset, knowledge and a great interest in learning. Also unique to Findon is the sense of community; you truly feel connected to staff, peers and members of the broader community as a Findon High School student. Findon High is currently implementing Student Centred Learning enabling all students to take control of their education, selecting subjects aligned to their unique capabilities, which is very exciting. I would recommend Findon High to any parent who wants their child to be not just academically successful, but to thrive in all aspects of school life, including the development of strong social skills.

"My name is Vivien Zimmermann and I was a student at Findon High School from 2016, graduating in 2019. I am now studying Bachelor of Psychological Science at The University of Adelaide. My time at Findon High School greatly impacted my attitude towards further education through the influence of several of my subject teachers and several demonstrations presented throughout my final year regarding all the different pathways available to me after graduation. Throughout my experience at Findon High, I acquired various skills, both academic and social, that prepared me for University such as being able to engage in the learning activities with approachable teachers, successfully studying independently and managing my time effectively, along with the encouragement to take advantage of future learning opportunities of all kinds. It was mainly through my teachers that I learned the basic fundamental factors to being a successful student including creating quality assignments, receiving detailed feedback, following clear directions on class work and using communication towards peers and teachers throughout. My experience at Findon High School prepared me well for University and was overall a positive experience. I am very grateful to all the teachers and staff who helped me understand my potential and encouraged me to go where I am today."

"As student and prefect of Findon High School, I have played an enthusiastic part in the school’s Student Centred Learning journey. This new approach to learning has truly allowed students to explore their passions and develop a meaningful and comprehensive understanding of the material they are taught. It is thanks to the student centred approach, and the support of all staff members that I successfully completed Year 12 achieving an ATAR which has enabled entry in a Bachelor of Laws at Adelaide University. The working relationships built between students and staff at Findon High School ensured the continuous support of my teachers, which was displayed through their willingness to critique my work and suggest ways I could build on my understanding, maximising results. Along with being academically successful, the practical knowledge I have acquired through leadership opportunities afforded to me at Findon High School see me well placed to play an active and meaningful role in society."

"Beginning secondary school was both nerve wrecking and exciting. I saw this new beginning as an opportunity to reinvent myself: I wanted shy and quiet Primary School Sumaya to learn and grow into a confident and empowered young woman as a student of Findon High School. Immediately I was pushed out of my comfort zone with aquatics, the Year 8 camp and a range of sports carnivals which really helped me learn more about myself and strategies necessary to overcome challenges. As the years progressed Findon continued to present opportunities outside the classroom in regards to student leadership, and I became a member of the SRC where I grew as a communicator and team player. In 2019 I was voted Prefect and had the amazing opportunity of representing my peers; I was their voice and I relished every chance to make a difference ensuring it was heard in all aspects of school life, from the upcoming architectural developments to the transition to Student Centred Learning. I even had the chance to experience what it’s like being on the other side of a media interview desk. Being a prefect also allowed me the honour of meeting a range of dignitaries as our school representative; a responsibility I took very seriously, ensuring that the messages I conveyed captured the vision of Findon High School. The opportunities extended to the classroom, and the learning I undertook along the way enabled me to successfully complete my final year at Findon. Year 12 was a full stop; the end point. Everything seemed so final and in the beginning, it was a little scary. I truly believe that without the support of Findon High school teachers and staff I would not have achieved academically and finished the year the way that I did, achieving an ATAR of 85.75, enabling me to enter study towards a Bachelor of Psychology. Any and every year 12 student at Findon can tell you that in the final year you make a bond with your teachers like no other, which is something other, larger school students do not get to experience. At Findon, teachers do a lot more than teach. They are mentors who support and guide and walk alongside students to bring out their best. Although most people can tell you high school, a time where you are finding yourself and learning who you are and preparing for the future, is hard, I can personally attest to the fact that the journey I undertook at Findon High School was both challenging and supportive. I firmly believe that it is the wonderful staff that make Findon what it is, so special."

"After completing my Secondary Schooling at Findon High School I have now decided to go to the University of SA and study a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to study at University without the support of my teachers and their unwavering belief in me. When I began at Findon as a Year 8, I lacked confidence and I didn’t believe that I had the ability to one day enrol at University. The day the Year 12 results came out was a daunting day for me but I was excited none the less; I knew that this would be the day that I would find out if I would be continuing to work towards the career that I aspired to for my whole life. The teachers at Findon High School pushed me to be the best version of myself. Their support, guidance and the educational opportunities they offered helped me to finally believe I was capable of achieving my goal if I believed in myself, and now my dream is a reality. My teachers instilled within me, the work ethic and dedication needed to be successful and I definitely learnt that I couldn’t just sit back and wait till the last minute to complete my work if I wanted to achieve my best. I needed to put time into completing homework, studying for tests and seeking teacher feedback. I will take this knowledge into my University studies. I know that wouldn’t have had this opportunity without the support from the teachers and staff at Findon High School."

High school can really shape one’s life and studying at Findon High School was one of the best choices I have made. Findon has inspired me so much. Not only have I completed High School as a more confident individual, but I have been inspired to always think big and always aim high. I was always challenged to my best and believe that anything was possible if I persisted. I remember in Year 10 one of my teachers made me stay in the more challenging Maths classes even though I thought I couldn’t succeed and because of the continuous faith he had in me I stayed the whole year and then went on to do Maths in Year 12; I learnt to enjoy Maths. All my other teachers have had a positive influence and always pushed me to push past my road blocks to achieve my personal best. Findon High School opened many doors through opportunities to be involved in the community, enabling me to establish new friendships and make wide networks that I will definitely use into the future. Being a part of the SRC, the She Leads leadership program, countless sports carnivals and even assisting receptions and grade ones for a term, teaching Drama have been integral in these community connections. I was also given the opportunity to do work experience in a migration law firm in which I now work. My teachers were the most supportive people I have ever met. I was inspired to want to study law from Year 10 because of the support and enthusiasm from my inspirational teacher, Mrs Campbell who even built a courtroom for us. I am now on the path to complete a double degree in Law and Sociology at the University of Adelaide. I will take away the many lifelong learning lessons, the beautiful memories and most importantly the inspiration that Findon High School provided me. I implore all current and future Findon students to take advantage of the many doors of opportunities Findon High School will open for you.

"One of the hardest decisions for parents is choosing the right secondary school. Choosing Findon High School is something I highly recommend to all parents. Findon offers so many opportunities and caters for every single child: the sports lover, the artist, the tech studies enthusiast, the actor or the dancer. Findon offers the chance to explore new and innovative activities for example the Ice Factor Program and the Ski Trip. I myself would never have thought that I would ever skate or snowboard in my life, but because of this opportunity that was offered to me by Findon High, I have developed new skills that and interests which I will take into my life into the future. Findon High School’s staff and students are amazing. One of the best things about Findon High School is the small number of students enrolled. Due to this you are always guaranteed to have the teacher with you in every class, working alongside you, one on one time or just to have a casual talk to build that important relationship that will lead to success. The staff at Findon stop at nothing to make sure that every student’s education and safety are put first. Everyone is genuine and the teachers work tirelessly to make sure every single student succeeds. One of the teachers at Findon even managed to work with students and the wider community to raise $20,000 to build a fully functioning court room. Yes, a fully functioning court room! What a unique offering and an exciting and authentic place in which to learn! Findon emphasizes teachers working with students to help them gain knowledge, rather than standing in front of a board talking for an hour and a half continuously developing themselves to find new ways to teach students. So far it has worked perfectly with the last two Year 12 cohorts achieving their SACE in record numbers: completion rates of more than 90%. At Findon High School, I have gained valuable knowledge and skills and am now studying at university level and at the same time, I made lifelong friends. I highly recommend Findon High School as the place for your child’s secondary education."
