Court is in Session at Findon High School
The Findon High School Courtroom Experience immerses students in civics education and is the only fully functional courtroom classroom in South Australia.
Intermediate, Foundation and Graduate students learn through a range of courtroom simulations, taking on a range of personas including judge, jury, accused, prosecution and defence counsel, bringing the theoretical components of Legal Studies to life. Visiting Primary Schools are also offered the opportunity to engage in the experience. Primary School students are challenged to speak in front of a large audience, solve problems using their critical and creative thinking skills and to work together as a team as they explore one of the fairy tales / Disney stories, through a legal studies lens. The opportunity to connect with senior Findon students is invaluable in building connections between the schools, the Legal Studies students mentor through the day’s activities to ensure a positive experience.
The Courtroom Experience is driven by Legal Studies teacher, Melissa Campbell and she is excited about the future of Legal Studies at Findon High School.
