At Findon High School a partnership with the Beacon Foundation connects students with aspirational mentors from a range of 21st century industries, ensuring our students are ready for the jobs of the future.
- Beacon Foundation’s High Impact Programs: Prepare, Polish and Perform, are a series of one-day workshops aimed at students of all phases of their education.The content of each program helps to increase a young person’s aspirations and provides relevance to their school curriculum, in addition to aligning with the changing needs of the labour market.
- Immersion in hands on learning in a real world context through work experience opportunities, mock job interviews, industry visits and speed careering.Beacon connections ensure that students have direct access to industry experts who share their own career journeys and work with students to unpack successful career planning strategies.
- Mentoring, through a range of online platforms, with mentors carefully selected to align with the aspirations of each individual student, ensures the Beacon connection is personalised. The Beacon Foundation draws on its extensive industry connections engaging mentors to share their stories, top tips for success, and answer student questions.
- The Ambassador Program, which harnesses and develops student leadership potential. As a Beacon Ambassador a student is responsible for planning and managing major Findon/Beacon events, building event management skills which link directly to future career pathways. This program builds skills in teamwork, communication, problem solving and personal reflection.
